approximately 2237km north of Perth by road. Main industries in Broome include

secondary industries being agriculture and fishing. The current Shire population of
Broome is in excess of 16,000 persons increasing from approximately 11,000 in 1991

Derby

Derby has a population of approximately 5,000 people. Main industries supporting
the town include tourism, government agencies, mining and agriculture. The town
has a wide range of amenities including shopping, schools, secondary education
facilities, a regional hospital and an airport. Derby’s postcode (6728) also covers the
more remote townsite of Camballin.
Camballin
The West Kimberley town of Camballin is situated approximately 2,400km from Perth.
Camballin has a population of approximately 60 people and was originally
developed to provide services to the surrounding agricultural industry. The town has
limited amenities including a general store with school facilities located at the nearby
'Looma' community. Camballin falls under the same postcode (6728) as the larger
regional town of Derby.
Fitzroy Crossing
The far northern town of Fitzroy Crossing is situated approximately 2,550km from Perth
and has a population of approximately 1,000 people. Main industries supporting the
town include tourism, mining, pastoral and government services. The town has a
limited range of amenities including shops, hospital and schools.
Halls Creek
The town of Halls Creek is situated approximately 2,900km from Perth and 314km from
the regional centre of Kununurra. Halls Creek has an in town population of
approximately 1,200 people but supports a total population in the order of 3,900
people inclusive of surrounding aboriginal and rural communities. Main industries
